Allergy season is upon us – and while spring brings beautiful flowers and sunny weather, it also brings more pollen and other allergens, causing yucky symptoms that make your everyday living pretty tough. If you start to experience these symptoms around this time of the year, chances are you are suffering from allergies:
- Runny/itchy nose
- Nasal congestion
- Sneezing
- Itchy or watery eyes
- Itchy throat
Allergies can be inconvenient and distracting, and sometimes they can be confused for the common cold. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your symptoms to be sure that you are treating allergies and not a cold beforehand.
The best way to prepare for allergy season is by finding out what you are allergic to. You can ask your doctor for allergy trigger testing. From there, minimize your exposure to those allergens. Check your local allergy forecast to stay aware of when pollen and other outdoor allergen levels are high. Unfortunately, our area is notorious for having high allergen levels. If allergy season has a big impact on you, it might be a good idea to stay indoors when possible.
Sometimes allergies are inevitable. If you are already experiencing symptoms, ask your pharmacist which allergy medicine may be right for you, and begin taking it as soon as possible. We can recommend allergy medications when you stop by, or you can give us a call. We are happy to do all that we can to help you feel better!
